Boris Lurie and NO! Art
Exhibition January 12 − March 10, 2019
"NOT! NOT! NOT! to all accepted, all evil and despair that reign in us, NO to conformism and materialism! " It characterizes the exposition dedicated to the NO! Art movement (“NO! Art”), which was formed in the late 1950s - early 1960s, as opposed to the commercialization of art.
Exhibition"Boris Lurie and NO! Art" The Riga Stock Exchange organized the Art Museum jointly with the Boris Lurie Foundation in New York. Boris Lurie and Gertrude Stein maintained relationships throughout their lives, and in 2008 she became the founder and president of the artist's foundation. And the question that Boris Lurie asked in 1961 in connection with the “Exhibition-engagement”: “New frontiers ..., old frontiers. Is it true that only one person can wake the world? ”Became the main issue of this 2019 exhibition.
