MOCA is ambitious
an exhibitioninspired by American artist and film critic Manny Farber and his legendary essay The Art of the White Elephant vs. the Art of Termites (1962). This group exposition contains more than 100 works of painting, sculpture, photography, film, video and sound, from the 1950s to the present day.
The exhibition is designed as a cross between a monographic exhibition and a group show - an experiment in organizing exhibitions in the spirit of Farber’s call for the art of “watch and be in the world. Farber's idea about the art of termites as the starting point for combining the work of a diverse group of contemporary artists who explore the problems and pleasures of everyday life.
