Dutch spring. Opening the collection of the Dutch school

Exhibition February 1 − June 2, 2019
Exhibitionin the Museum of Old Masters in Brussels is a trip to the Dutch Golden Age and (re) the discovery of artists such as Frans Hals, Rembrandt van Rijn, Jan van Goyen, Pieter de Hooch and many others. Portraits, landscapes, genre scenes and still lifes can be found in the updated “Dutch Galleries” wing. This is an extensive panorama of that fascinating artistic period.

In the 17th century, the Northern Netherlands entered an era of unprecedented economic prosperity. In this Golden Age, cities such as Amsterdam, Utrecht, Haarlem and Leiden have become genuine centers of artistic innovation.

The collection of Dutch art of this period in the Royal Museums of Fine Arts is one of the largest and most beautiful outside the Netherlands. After the long-awaited reconstruction of the "Dutch Galleries" about a hundred masterpieces received a well-deserved permanent place in the Museum of Old Masters.
