Gustave Cybott. Impressionist painter and patron

Exhibition May 17 − September 15, 2019
Exhibition Center“Gustave Cybott. Painter and patron of the Impressionists " in the Old National Gallery will be the cityscape “Paris. Rainy Day ”- an icon of impressionism from the collection of the Institute of Art in Chicago. Because of its impressive size, it rarely comes to Europe and has not been to this part of the world since its full restoration in 2013.

This specialized exhibition is also dedicated to Kaibott as an impressionist patron. As a collector and sponsor, he participated in the financing and organization of their first exhibitions. Kaibott’s efforts to promote impressionism in public collections demonstrate striking parallels with Hugo von Choudi, who pursued his acquisition policy at the Old National Gallery.
