In the Marmottan Museum - Monet in Paris until July 21, an exhibition "Vision of the East, from dream to light". It consists of about sixty canvases, borrowed by leading public and private collections, such as the Louvre, Orsay Museum, Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid, Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, and so on.
Curators trace how the energy of the Napoleonic conquests inspired European artists to travel to the East. And how this “school of travel” brought new knowledge in the field of architecture and decorative art, and also accelerated the emancipation of color. He began to gradually free himself from photographic accuracy, and thus the East played its role in the birth of abstraction. The exhibition will be an opportunity to discover some little-known aspects of emerging modernism.
