Degas at the Opera
Edgar Degas is famous for his studies of the space of the theater - the auditorium, stage, lodges, dance studios and their inhabitants: dancers, singers, musicians and spectators. However, so far no one has shown Opera in the work of the artist as a whole, and the Orsay Museum decided to do this.
She examines not only the painter’s passionate relationship with the theater and his musical tastes, but also a microcosm of endless possibilities that allowed him to carry out various experiments: multiple points of view, lighting contrasts, movement studies. The work of a truly great artist offers us a portrait of the 19th century Paris Opera.
Exhibition"Degas at the Opera" will be held from September 24, 2019 to January 19, 2020.
