Exhibition October 13, 2019 − February 23, 2020
Sculptures, paintings and architectural projects of Michelangelo have been the subject of artistic admiration for over 500 years. As a companion for "Michelangelo: Master's Mind"presented at the Cleveland Art Museum,"Master / Apprentice: imitation and inspiration in the Renaissance"explores the influence of Michelangelo’s practices, projects and biographies on artists working in the Renaissance and beyond.

The presented works explore how Florentine artists modeled their approach to human form and methods of working with Michelangelo, as well as how artists in other countries imitated and interpreted his works.

The exhibition features engravings that reproduce and quote the main projects of Michelangelo, as well as works reflecting his architectural influence on the city of Rome.

Artists: Giorgio Gizi, Baccio Bandinelli, Bartolomeo da Arezzo, Marcantonio Raimondi, Niccolo Beatriz, Melchior Lorichs, Emil Orlik.
