Pamela Fatsimo Sanstrum explores the notion of nomadism through the alter ego. The artist's works reflect the features of her education on three continents when discussing broader ideas about time and place. In these ephemeral scenes, her avatars collectively excite alternating worlds and communities.
The fluidity is the basis of Santrum's work: the fluidity of space, which casts doubt on the exact geography; the smoothness of being, allowing the use of space for both the physical and the metaphysical realm; the variability of time when avatars and incarnations avoid certain geographical places to swim between worlds. The artist's works provoke talk of migration, boundaries, invisible issues, or postcolonialism, suggesting a reassessment of the radical role of the imagination.
"
My seven faces"- the largest exhibition of works by Pamela Fatsimo Sanstrum today, and it will be accompanied by the launch of the first monograph on the artist's work.
