Ostinato"This is a meeting of two artists for whom the theme of humanity in art is the main one. The name of the exhibition comes from the eponymous method and technique of musical composition, which provide for repeated repetition of a melodic phrase, rhythmic figure or harmonious turn. Matvey Weisberg presents the graphic cycles "Weak Anthropic Principle" and "Roads". The first was launched in 2004. The paintings are devoted to the author's farewell to the sky outside the workshop window and with a view that is about to be closed by high-rise buildings. The series “Roads” is an artist's observation while traveling from a train or bus window.
Pinchas Fishel presented works from the series "Ktubu" and "Passion around the unicorn", made in the technique of paper cut. Ketubu Jews call the ritual marriage contract. The cycle of the same name was the result of years of study by the artist of Jewish artifacts. The desire of nature to keep a person who has lost the truth from self-destruction is the central plot of the "Passion around the unicorn." The author's motivation to create both series is in the field of research on new paper cut features (paper cutting), such as the illusion of symmetry, the illusion of the absence of symmetry and the effect of double impression.
