In the Memorial Museum-apartment of the Samoilov family of actors, an exhibition takes place.
"Artist Highest Decree".
The exhibition, timed to the 25th anniversary of the museum-apartment, is devoted to the comparison of the front and backstage life of the theater of the XIX century. Particular attention is paid to the complex relationship of actors, theatrical directorate and the Imperial Court.
Images of theaters and theater halls, portraits of famous actors and their award signs coexist with the decrees regulating theatrical life, photo chronicles of everyday life of the Theater School and sketches of backstage life. The key exhibit is the recently discovered portrait of V.V. Samoilov by I. Ye. Repin, dated 1886.
The exhibition presents paintings, engravings, drawings, photographs and unique objects from the collections of the Museum of Theatrical and Musical Art, as well as from the collection of the State Hermitage Museum. The documentary part of the exhibition consists of extremely rare archival documents from the collections of the Russian State Historical Archive.
