"Frye salon“represents about one hundred and fifty paintings from the Fry Museum collections hanging from floor to ceiling — a display mode called a cabin-style pendant. The installation roughly corresponds to the viewing experience in the art gallery at Charles and Emma Fry in Seattle in the first decades of the twentieth century.
Charles and Emma Fry developed their passion for art. They searched for paintings of the international list of artists from Europe and the USA, paying particular attention to the works of German artists. Frye Salon collects many of these works together to recall the abundance and visual magnificence of salon-style exhibitions that were held at Fry's house a century ago.
