In the Kiev art center "YA Gallery" an exhibition "
Island”Dedicated to the children's illustrations of Ada Rybachuk and Vladimir Melnichenko. Works created in the period 1950-1980-ies. The authors used various techniques (from application to linocut) and relied on expressive color solutions. Each work on a book has its own history, in which the confrontation between the need for creative expression and state control of the artistic sphere is embodied concisely.
“The island is a metaphor for the comprehension of childhood in the artistic practice of the duet, and at the same time refers to the isolation of artists during the times of state censorship of art. However, as Ada recalled, there is a blue hill in the center of the island (a low rounded mountain) called Sayak-Sede - Big Heart. And our task today is to build bridges to such islands, ”the curator of the exhibition notes.
