Art Museum of St. Petersburg XX – XXI centuries invites to the exhibition of Vladimir Maximovich Sokolov "Portrait suites"dedicated to his 110th birthday.
The exhibition presents more than 30 of the brightest works of the master from the private collection of a friend of the author, Alexander Ivanovich Evseev.
Painter, graphic artist, poster artist, Vladimir Sokolov worked all his life in Leningrad, making trips around the country and the world, creating works based on field observations. Combining the professional skills of the poster artist and painter, the artist created his portrait gallery, which turned into a kind of traveling exhibition and became his hallmark.
The works of Vladimir Sokolov were made in an unusual technique - litomonotypes (lithography and monotype). The master made lithographic prints on the tree, painted them with tempera, coal or felt-tip pen, which gave the work a special color and brought in a feeling of “live presence”.
