Julie Meretu. Retrospective
This exhibition marks the first ever comprehensive retrospective of the work of Julie Meretu. Known for her large-scale abstract canvases, Meretu uses drawing techniques that range from finely drawn lines and layering of various media to prints, scratches and scuffs, to ballet gestures of various masses and viscosities. In its superimposed picture planes are images that express the complexities of our civilization - the study of history, colonialism, capitalism, geopolitics, war, the diaspora and movement - in all its chaos and beauty.

Exhibition "Julie Meretu. Retrospective"tells about all aspects of the artist’s career: from her early works with architectural and graphic elements, a geographical scheme and plans of public places to her recent bold paintings with figurative elements layered on pixelated, printed, sprayed and drawn gestures. The exhibition brings together about 35 large-scale paintings with 35 engravings and drawings, from 1996 to the present, Meretu’s game with scale, from its intricate drawings and prints to its large canvases, will be studied in detail, as well as its combination methods Veta, lines and strokes to create its unique surfaces.
