Blum & Poe Gallery is pleased to present a personalan exhibition paintings by New York artist March Avery. The exhibition presents a collection of works spanning more than five decades, and is the first extensive personal presentation of the artist in New York over the past twenty years.

Focusing on portraiture and landscape and focusing on still life, a selection of works changes the life moments of the past through the paints applied to the canvas. Mothers read bedtime stories; children have breakfast, sit on their knees and play Chinese checkers; clouds hang over a gray-blue lake; and plants in pots are placed among children's toys or depicted in paintings hung behind a sofa on which a young woman reclines in the company of a cat. These daytime trends that characterize Avery’s work embody a lifelong commitment to the painting process itself.
