The Tacoma Museum of Art's collection of over 5,000 works of art has grown over decades thanks to a number of significant gifts. On the occasion of the opening of the new wing of Rebecca and Jack Benaroy, the museum presents the exhibition "
Key to the collection".
Although the museum has focused its collections on art and artists in the Pacific Northwest for over 55 years, it has also acquired other types of work that provide a wider context for understanding the art of the region.
The museum invites visitors to look at the cherished favorites from the inherited collections of European paintings, Japanese prints and American contemporary art, as well as new works that further expand this story.
