Myths & Fakes

Exhibition July 3 − September 16, 2019
Erarta Museum of Modern Art holds an exhibitionMyths & Fakes.

The exhibition presents paintings by St. Petersburg artists Elena Kulik and Igor Kulik.

Often, the theme of the authors' works is precisely a hot news item, while artists do not work with common images, but with erased, unpopular legends and myths. The nature of the fantastic in Kulikov’s works is determined by reality, in which fiction and reality are so closely intertwined in the information flow that it is almost impossible to distinguish one from the other. The works of the authors are a realistic painting of our time, “infected” with strains of kitsch and avant-garde.
