Huntsville Museum of Art is pleased to present the sixth part of its exhibition series, dedicated to contemporary artists related in terms of theme and receptivity. The last part of this series presents two artists from New Orleans -Stephen Paul Day and Sibyl Perettiwhose works are devoted to the themes of childhood, nature, innocence and loss.
Stephen Paul Day creates skillfully executed paintings and sculptures that are bizarre and charming, reflecting aspects of his childhood as well as folk symbolism.
Sibylla Peretti creates glass sculptures and multimedia collages, in which photography and drawing are combined with surface treatment methods such as engraving, mirror reflection and glass settling. The world that Peretti creates for children in his works is mysterious, alluring and potentially fraught with danger, emphasizing their fragility and humanity.
