I. Levitan. On the Volga

Exhibition August 31, 2019 − January 20, 2020
Plesk State Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve in the building of the Museum and Exhibition Complex "Public Places" presents the project"AND. Levitan. On the Volga".

In the hall of the first floor will be presented a mono-exhibition of the painting by I. Levitan “On the Volga” from the funds of the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow); in the hall of the second floor there is a retrospective of landscape paintings from the collections of the Plesssky Museum-Reserve with the image of the great Russian river by such authors as A. Stepanov, V. Perepletchikov, A. Korin, M. Romadin, V. Fedorov, M. Ageev and others.

This unique project was made possible thanks to the long-standing cooperation of the Plesssky Museum-Reserve with one of the leading museums in the country. Its goal is to provide residents of the Ivanovo region, guests and tourists of Ples a rare opportunity to see the painting by I. Levitan “On the Volga” from the collection of the State Tretyakov Gallery in the walls of the Pless Museum-Reserve. The name of Levitan is inextricably linked with Ples (the only Memorial House-Museum of the artist in Russia here) and Moscow (the State Tretyakov Gallery contains the largest collection of the artist’s creative heritage, the true masterpieces of which are works written by Levitan in Ples and based on the Volga impressions).
