Rubens, Rembrandt and the Golden Age Drawings

Exhibition September 28, 2019 − January 5, 2020
While the history of early Art Nouveau Dutch and Flemish art tends to focus on paintings created at that time, the exhibition "Rubens, Rembrandt and the Golden Age Drawings"creates an alternative narrative, showing drawings not in the background, but as main exhibits.

Showing the works of Rembrandt van Rijn, Peter Paul Rubens, Hendrick Averkamp and many others, the exposition traces the development of drawing during this period, explores its many roles in art education, its preparatory function for works in other media, and its possible recognition as an art form.
