Rembrandt Masterpieces from the Hamburg Kunsthalle Collection

Exhibition August 30, 2019 − January 5, 2020
Hamburg Kunsthalle will present a special exhibition of one of the largest artists of the Dutch Golden Age.

On display "Rembrandt Masterpieces from the collection"presents a collection of outstanding works from the collection of the Museum of Old Masters and a collection of prints and drawings. They will be supplemented by the painting" Farewell to Hagar "(1612) by Peter Lastman, who taught Rembrandt for six months in his workshop around 1625.

At the exposition, along with three paintings, about 60 etchings are presented, including landscapes, portraits and works on religious themes.

In total, over 300 Rembrandt prints are stored in the collection of engravings and drawings of the Hamburg Kunsthalle. They all belonged to the Hamburg art dealer and collector Georg Ernst Harzen (1790–1863), who bequeathed his collection to the city of Hamburg for the foundation of the Kunsthalle in 1869.

This important collection allows you to show the work of Rembrandt in all its many aspects.
