Georges Mathieu (1921-2012) - French painter, a vivid representative of the artistic movement of "Tashism". Art historians recognized Georges Mathieu as the ancestor of such a direction in painting as “historical abstract painting”. Its main difference from the ordinary “historical painting” is that there are no people in Mathieu’s paintings, no accessories, no events.
