Edward Munch and the Life Cycle

Exhibition February 28 − May 17, 2020
Chrysler Museum of Art, Norfolk Presents Exhibition "Edward Munch and the Life Cycle".

The autobiographical cycle of paintings shows how pain and healing are part of the life of Munch, who suffered an unusual amount of early injuries.

"Edward Munch and the Life Cycle: Engravings from the National Art Gallery" will tell how Munk actively and theatrically created his artistic personality based on his experience. It will also highlight Munch’s active participation in bohemian circles and in the art world in Paris and Berlin.

Munch's engravings, like his life, reveal vulnerability, an attempt to heal, and hiding the truth behind illusions.
