Matisse

Exhibition May 13 − August 21, 2020
On the occasion of the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the birth of Henri Matisse (1869-1954), the Pompidou Center pays tribute to him through the exhibition "Matisse".

In 1942, Henri Matisse declared: "The importance of the artist is measured by the number of new features that he will introduce into a plastic language."

Throughout his career, Matisse has been this artist. His work, aimed at upsetting the modern look, was expressed in various techniques that he tirelessly developed: painting, graphics, sculpture and illustrated books.
