Exhibition "
Present"is an expression of continuous communication for decades by internationally recognized German artist Georg Baselitz and the Pinakothek of modernity in Munich.
"Piet in kurzer Hose (Remix)" (2008) is a connection in time and style with the existing museum collection. This is a “remix” of the scandalous painting “The Big Night in the Bucket” (1962/63) and some of Baselitz’s main themes, including a discussion of collective and individual memories.
In the picture, he combines ideologically charged motifs, such as a swastika or a skull with Hitler's hairstyle, with a free transfer of the cult abstraction of Pete Mondrian.
The past and present, creative and destructive, private and public, are combined into works that are always difficult to look at.
