The Atheneum Art Museum in the halls of the Museum of Prince Eugene Waldemarssudd, Stockholm organizes an exhibition
“Silent beauty. Northern Europe and East Asia.
The exhibition brings together samples of fine art (painting, drawings, prints), sculptures, ceramics, textiles and architecture from the collections of Finnish, Swedish, Danish and Japanese museums and private collections. Among the artists represented at the exhibition are Rune Jansson, Aimo Kanerva, Karl Kilberg, Ahti Lavonen, Bernard Leach and Shoji Hamad, Killiki Salmenhaara, Alfred William Finch, Ki Sato, Helena Scherfbek, Jaakko Sievyanen, Eric Granfelkilk, and others.
The exhibition illustrates and encourages further study of the phenomenon of "Japanese mania" in the Scandinavian countries; demonstrates what forms this phenomenon takes over the past century; studying the connection of Scandinavian aesthetics and oriental fine art. The art of both regions combines the idea of enjoying everyday beauty and a connection with nature, the aesthetics of minimalism and harmony.
