Exhibition October 1 − December 31, 2020
Hamburg Kunsthalle is preparing an exhibition“Creating a story. Hans Makart and salon painting of the XIX century ".

The exposition will include more than 60 paintings and sculptures of masters of the XIX century. The central work of the exhibition will be the work of Hans Makart "The Entry of Emperor Charles V into Antwerp" in 1878. Visitors will see the monumental canvas of the Viennese painter, whose area exceeds 50 square meters. The painting was acquired by the museum in 1881 as the “most scandalous canvas” of the time.

The works of art presented at the exhibition give an idea of the difficulties and contradictions in the art of the era under consideration.
