George IV (1762–1830) was passionate about art and architecture throughout his life and created one of the greatest collections of painting and decorative arts in Europe. The acquisitions of the King, employing the finest architects and carefully considering the placement of each masterpiece, remain some of the greatest pieces in the Royal Collection.
