Greek and Roman sculpture

Exhibition March 2 − December 30, 2020
The New Carlsberg Glyptotek invites you to visit the exhibition"Greek and Roman sculpture".

Visitors will be able to see a unique collection of sculptures, consisting of nearly 400 exhibits, located in 14 halls of the museum.

In the ancient Greek and Roman world, sculpture was not only a work of art, but also one of the most important means of expression and communication. Each statue, head and relief was created with a specific purpose and message. Most often, the sculpture was installed in public places, for example, in a city market, a cemetery, in a theater or in shrines. The exhibition is a journey through an important chapter in the history of European culture.
