The National Museum in Warsaw presents a large exhibition"Poland. The power of the image ".

The exposition of Polish painting of the 19th century includes canvases by the most prominent Polish artists, incl. Stanislaw Wyspianski, Alexander and Maximilian Gerymski, Jan Matejko, Leon Wyczulkowski, Józef Mehoffer, Olga Boznańska, Józef Brandt, Józef Helmonski, Ferdinand Ruszczyc, Konrad Janszewska, Stanczyszkow and Konrad Krzynszowski, Zimygrzewski Jubałańska More than 100 paintings from the own collections of the National Museum in Warsaw and other national collections.

The exhibition tells about the cultural and mythological role of 19th century Polish painting. It was then that works were created that not only reflected, but also shaped the ideas, thinking and feelings of Poles. Thus, the exhibition presents, among other things: paintings reflecting the glorious and tragic history of Poland; study of the cultural wealth inherited from Poland before the partition, with its ethnic, social and religious diversity; works created by passion for folklore; iconography of the January Uprising and deportations; outstanding examples of works of the Polish landscape school; finally - evidence of the search for modern forms of expression at the turn of the twentieth century, in the spirit of symbolism, nabi, proto-expressionism, aestheticism.
