Mexico underwent a radical cultural transformation at the end of its revolution in 1920. A new relationship was established between art and the public, resulting in art that spoke directly to people about social justice and national life. The model inspired artists in the United States who sought to break free from European aesthetic dominance to create socially meaningful and accessible local art.
