Whitney Museum of American Art Presents Exhibition
Best of the Whitney Collection: 1900 - 1965.
The exhibition dedicated to the founding of the museum includes 120 works from the collection founded in 1930 by Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney. Visitors will see the most important works of Georgia O'Keeffe, Jacob Lawrence, Edward Hopper, Rockwell Kent, Roy Lichtenstein, Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol, Beatrice Wood, Andrew Wyeth.
Mrs. Whitney recognized the importance of contemporary American art and the need to support the artists who created it. The collection she assembled showed how artists uniquely reveal the complexity and beauty of American life.
