Dresden State Art Collections and the Albertinum Museum present an exhibition
Ernst Barlach. To the 150th anniversary of his birth ".
On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of his birth, the first extensive retrospective of this outstanding artist, for whom art was “the work of the deepest humanity”, will be shown in Dresden.
Ernst Barlach (1870–1938) is undoubtedly more popular than any other 20th century artist in Germany. He owes his fame and importance as a sculptor primarily to his wooden sculptures. At the same time, his versatile talents were active in other areas: Barlakh was a draftsman, graphic artist, author of numerous dramas and prose, as well as a writer of expressive letters.
