Gerhard Richter 1961/62

Exhibition August 29 − November 29, 2020
The Dresden State Art Collections and the Albertinum Museum of Fine Arts are holding an exhibition"Gerhard Richter 1961/62".

The exposition is devoted to the little-studied period of Gerhard Richter's life: two years from his escape from Dresden to the Federal Republic of Germany until the beginning of the creation of his official catalog of works with the first numbered paintings.

The exhibition demonstrates the consistent liberation of Richter from the figurative paintings created in Dresden and the transition to abstraction and pointless experiments, based on the paintings and drawings created during these months and considered destroyed by the artist for many years.
