State Tretyakov Gallery holds an exhibition"Maria Yakunchikova-Weber".
For the first time - and this is the second Yakunchikova-Weber retrospective in Moscow in 115 years - her legacy will be presented so completely: more than 60 paintings, about 10 works of decorative and applied art, as well as more than 60 watercolor sketches and pastels. Special attention is paid to works in the technique of burning, book graphics and color etchings.
In addition, viewers will be able to see unique photographs from the photo archive of the artist and her husband. Perhaps this part of the exhibition will seem especially poetic and captivating to the guests: Lev Weber took many photographs, and most of them capture the gentle and melancholy, like a distant and sweet memory, the image of his beloved and talented wife, Maria Vasilyevna Yakunchikova-Weber.
Maria Yakunchikova (1870-1902) - one of the most talented and dramatic figures in the art of the Silver Age, was also one of the first women in Russia to receive a professional art education. In her art, starting from the 1890s, elements of impressionism, modernity, symbolism and emerging expressionism were organically intertwined with the search for national form and style.
