The Barbera Institute of Fine Arts hosts an exhibition
"Golden Jubilee: 50 Years of the Barber Coin Collection".
The exposition is dedicated to the 50th “golden” anniversary of the Barbera Institute collection and acquaints visitors with the fascinating world of coins - miniature works of art and historical documents. The collection of the museum is one of the largest and most outstanding numismatic collections in the world.
Scholars and numismatists Jeffrey Haynes (1899–1981) and Philip Whitting (1903–1988) have left their vast collections of over 15,000 pieces to the Barber Museum, subject to education — access and study of the works. Find out how much an ancient coin could buy, where and how it was made, and learn the history of how these coins became part of a museum here in Birmingham.
