Frank Stella Stars

Exhibition September 21, 2020 − May 9, 2021
The Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art hosts an exhibition of the American minimalist postmodern painter and sculptorFrank Stella's Stars.

Visitors will see a large overview exhibition of the author's works, located in the halls and in the Museum's Sculpture Garden.

Among the myriad forms that have appeared in the work of Frank Stella (b. 1936), the star is the most unusual, distinctive and recognizable form; a striking object amidst a jumble of abstract, contrived forms that the artist has used throughout his long creative career. Frank Stella's "historical arc" runs from minimalism to maximalism, with late stellar sculptures often exhibiting distortions of shape and a huge variety of materials and manufacturing techniques.
