Women take the floor

Exhibition September 13, 2020 − November 14, 2021
Boston Museum of Fine Arts reopens exhibition"Women take the floor".

The exposition includes over 200 works (painting, graphics, sculpture, arts and crafts), divided into seven thematic subsections, the authors of which are women.

In the decades since the campaign for women's suffrage, an increasing number of women have successfully pursued careers as professional artists and designers. Yet the road was not easy and not open to everyone. The gallery features renowned artists such as Georgia O'Keeffe, Ruth Reeves, Lois Milo Jones, Lucita Hurtado, Lauren McIver, Ellen de Kooning and many more. "Women Take Over" challenges the dominant history of 20th century American art by focusing on the underrated and under-represented works and stories of women artists.
