Belgorod State Art Museum holds an exhibition “Out of the shadows. Women in the history of Russian art of the 18th-20th centuries ".

The exhibition includes 67 works of painting and decorative and applied art: works of the artists of Russian art of the 18th - 20th centuries - A.P. Antropova, V.L. Borovikovsky, A.G. Venetsianova, R.I. Felitsin, K.E. Makovsky, M.K. Bashkirtseva, N.N. Becker, B.M. Kustodieva, Z.E. Serebryakova, N.S. Goncharova, I.E. Grabar, A.P. Ostroumova-Lebedeva, A.V. Shevchenko, N.I. Nesterova and other masters.

The exhibition is directly related to such modern discourse as the role and forms of female presence in the Russian-European culture of three centuries. Thus, the exhibition summarizes many private subjects, including: a woman as a source of inspiration, a woman as a leader, as a focus of attention, as a creator, as a woman-mother and others. The exposition is varied in chronology, the variation in themes and styles is quite wide. The ceremonial images give way to private, early ones, restrained in color, - temperamental and bright.

A special section of the exhibition is represented by objects of decorative and applied art - porcelain plastic, tableware of the 1920s - 1930s, 1950s, the originality and artistic merits of which are undeniable. Among the works on display, most of the works are produced at one of the oldest in Europe, the first and one of the largest in Russia enterprises for the production of artistic porcelain products - the State Porcelain Factory (in 1924 it was named after M.V. Lomonosov, now it bears the name - Imperial Porcelain Factory), made by N.Ya. Danko, A.V. Shchekatikhina-Pototskaya, P.N. Shuriga.
