Paths of blessing. To the 85th anniversary of the Roerich Pact

This confidence made possible the implementation of one of the brightest ideas of the 20th century - about the need to protect the rights of culture, about the protection of historical, architectural, archaeological and artistic monuments at the state and international levels. This idea originated in Nicholas Roerich's student years, and was embodied several decades later, in 1935, when the "Treaty on the Protection of Art and Scientific Institutions and Historical Monuments", known throughout the world as the "Roerich Pact", was signed in Washington. The narrative part of the exhibition tells in detail about the history of this document.The artistic heritage of Nicholas and Svyatoslav Roerichs in the collection of the State Museum of Oriental Art is one of the largest collections of paintings by these artists in the world. Their works, which depict Russia, Central Asia and India, are the main part of the exhibition dedicated to the protection of cultural values in the works of the Roerich family. Nicholas Roerich devoted his reflections, studies and paintings to ancient temples and strongholds, mountain peaks and paths as symbols of spiritual achievements. In them he found the sources of the ways of inspiration and creativity, calling them the ways of the joy of consciousness, the ways of blessing. “In the mysterious generalizing paths of art, there is that international language that will unite all of humanity,” N. Roerich wrote.
