Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum presents an exhibition
"German Expressionism in the collection of Baron Thyssen-Bornemisza".
This exhibition, dedicated to German Expressionism, opens the celebration of the centenary of the birth of Hans Heinrich Thyssen-Bornemisza (1921-2002), one of the most respected collectors of the 20th century. For the first time, the exhibition combines works from the permanent collection of the museum with a set of Expressionist paintings that remained in the hands of his wife Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza and their children.
The exhibition changes the usual chronological distribution of expressionism in the halls of the museum, offering a renewed vision, which is formulated around three concepts: the process of creating paintings, their success with the public and critics, and, finally, the relationship of the Baron with his dealers and exhibition projects that he organized to popularize the collection in the world.
