Exhibition of works by the nominees for the M17 Sculpture Prize

Exhibition December 17, 2020 − February 21, 2021
An exhibition of works by young Ukrainian artists has opened at the M17 Center for Contemporary Art in Kiev - of the M17 Sculpture Prize nominees!

The M17 Sculpture Prize is the country's first professional award in the field of three-dimensional art, founded by the M17 Center together with the Adamovskiy Foundation as part of the M17 Sculpture Project research direction. The M17 Sculpture Prize: Roots and Pollen exhibition, which opened on December 17, features 12 works from 13 nominees (11 individual artists and one creative tandem).

The works of the exhibition were united by the theme “Roots and pollen”. At the stage of filing applications, the artists were asked to speculate what the concept of "roots" is for them personally and for modern society. Where are these very "roots" in the globalized world? How durable is “unrooted”? Where are the pivot points hidden to which art that lives in time is oriented?

The works of the authors show a wide variety of styles, techniques and materials. Thus, the exhibition features sculptures, light and media installations, cardboard and ceramics, works using live moss and more.

The winner will be selected based on the results of the exhibition and will receive the main prize of UAH 250,000. However, we will only find out his or her name in February 2021.

You can find out more about the nominees for the Prize, as well as read the news at project page.
