The State Tretyakov Gallery in the halls of the Main Building is holding an exhibition
"Alexander Ivanov. Bible sketches. Annunciation".
The exposition includes works on gospel stories about miraculous signs and events associated with the birth of John the Baptist and the birth and childhood of Jesus Christ.
The Tretyakov Gallery houses an exclusive collection of graphics by Alexander Andreevich Ivanov (1806-1858). The completeness of this collection, which includes more than 700 independent sheets and about 40 albums, made it possible to form several successive expositions, each of which has the character of a separate exhibition. The first of them - "Annunciation" - opens the graphic cycle "Biblical Sketches", on which the artist devoted the last decade of his life - from the late 1840s to the beginning of 1858.
