Francis Bacon: The Man and the Beast

Exhibition January 29 − July 18, 2021
Royal Academy of Arts, London hosts an exhibition Francis Bacon: The Man and the Beast.

The bright and powerful display is dedicated to Bacon's unmistakable fascination with animals: how this influenced and distorted his approach to the human body; how, caught in the most extreme moments of existence, his figures are hardly recognizable as humans or animals.

Highlights from Bacon's 50-year career include some of the artist's earliest work and his latest painting, as well as a trio of bullfighting paintings that will be exhibited together for the first time. Taken together, these crude expressions of anxiety and instinct - both animal and human - seem to be very relevant today.
