Ateneum Art Museum presents an exhibition
“History of Finnish Art. Favorite classic ".
The exhibition illustrates the development of the fine arts in Finland from 1809 to the 1970s. Bright events in artistic life are compared at the exhibition with the best works of world art. The halls of the museum display such masterpieces as "Two Women" by Le Corbusier (1939), "Under the Yoke" by Eero Jarnefelt ("Burning the Thickets" (1893), "Bathing Men" by Edvard Munch (1907–08) and "The Wounded Angel" Hugo Simberg (1903).
The works on display in contemporary art halls highlight the country's post-World War II recovery and the emerging media society. The exhibition features paintings, sculptures and prints by Finnish and foreign artists such as Anitra Luzander, Unto Pusa, Ulla Rantanen, Anita Snellman and Sam Vanni.
