Treasures of the world. Travels of patrons

Exhibition February 11, 2021 − January 9, 2022
The Sinebrychoff Art Museum presents an exhibition project “Treasures of the World. Travels of patrons ".

The exhibition includes priceless works of art from the collections of Otto Wilhelm Klinkovström, Hjalmar Linder, Hermann Antelli, Esther and Jalo Sichtola and others. The works date back to the period from the 15th to the 19th century, the "stars" of the exhibition are paintings by Lucas Cranach (1472-1553), Jacopo Bassano (1510-1592), Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669) and Gerard ter Borja (1617-1681).

Collections of masterpieces tell not only about the history of art and the ideals of the era, but above all about the collector himself. Looking at the collection, one can imagine the dreams, feelings, hopes and expectations of the person who collected it. You can travel to bustling European cities or idyllic landscapes - just like art connoisseurs in pursuit of unexpected or carefully planned purchases.
