The exposition is the first major monographic exhibition dedicated to the work of Hyacinth Rigaud.
The artist of the most famous portrait of the Sun King, Hyacinth Rigaud dominated the portrait genre for almost a century, to which he gave new codes. The exhibition, organized according to the chronological and thematic line, will attempt to describe the career of Hyacinth Rigaud, from his inception in Catalonia to his consecration in Paris. The self-portraits painted by the artist throughout his life will stand out. An entire spectacular section will be devoted to portraits of Louis XIV. The exhibition seeks to highlight the exceptional richness of the collection of French portraits from the 17th and 18th centuries at the Palace of Versailles, which has no analogues in the world.
