Xinyi Chen. Horse with blinders on his eyes

Exhibition December 14, 2020 − August 23, 2021
The Museum Association Berlin State Museums and the Hamburg Station Museum of Contemporary Art present an exhibition "A horse with blinders on its eyes".

The exposition includes more than 30 paintings and six original photographs of the French artist of Chinese origin Xinyi Chen.

This is the first major solo exhibition of the artist, winner of the Baloise Art Prize 2019. Her paintings often focus on male figures. In addition to individual perceptions, she also shows her models in interaction with each other. The environment remains largely uncertain and often consists of structured monochrome backgrounds. As a result, the bodies of the figures come to the surface. Cheng leaves their relationship with each other open, as indicated by gentle gestures and intimate moments, as well as puzzling actions.
