Inquisitive look. Paintings of the Mannerists from the National Museum in Warsaw

Exhibition October 21, 2017 − February 25, 2018
Exhibition"Inquisitive sight" In the Art Museum of Kadriorg in Tallinn, organized together with the National Museum in Warsaw. The latter provided almost 40 works by Dutch Mannerists, which were supplemented by works from the collection of the Estonian gallery.

Mannerism originated in Italy in the 1520s, from where it spread throughout Europe in the second half of the 16th century. The main hero of creativity of the Mannerists was art itself. Painting has become no longer an attempt to imitate nature objectively, but a subjective creation reflecting the individuality of the artist and the customer. Perspective and color are often distorted, used as artistic means of expression.

In the Netherlands, Mannerism spread from 1550 to 1620. The purpose of the exhibition is to reflect all its diversity and explain the context from which this intriguing style originated.
