Käthe Kollwitz Museum announces the extension of the exhibition
"Graphic design. Art Deco from Paris ".
The exhibition features over 100 large-format prints that invite viewers to take a fascinating journey to glamorous Paris more than a century ago.
Paris is colorful, progressive and full of life in bold images of extravagant life. Leading Parisian graphic artists illustrate the attitude of Années folles, crazy years, through artistic experimentation, innovative techniques and flamboyant pictorial inventions. Twisted floral shapes and strict geometric elements, contrasting colors, crisp yet playful typography - Art Deco graphic design unites seemingly opposites. Artful posters, illustrations, and advertisements reflect the main problems of this time: new advertisements for high fashion or jazz, dance and technical advances such as modern sports cars - not least for military and government bonds - take the viewer into the illusion of a better and more beautiful world.
